Cowboys win again, 57-52 over Belmond-Klemme

Last Thursday night in Belmond, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys varsity got double digit stats from several players in a 57-52 win over the Broncos. The Cowboys held a slim 30-28 halftime advantage, but pulled away a bit at 43-37 after three quarters.

Sam Urness drained 19 points on 7 of 12 from the field, while Rhett Darland added 11 counters including three bombs from long range. Will Weidemann and Zack Leist were next with nine points each, while Ryan Darland added five points. Marco Duran and Bryce Tegtmeyer rounded it out with two points each. Leist grabbed 11 boards and Weidemann 10 for a busy night in that stat category. Urness got his mitts on four caroms, Rhett and Chase Harker three each and Tegtmeyer two. Ryan and Derek Conlon added one rebound apiece.

Urness dished out five assists, with Ryan credited with two and Rhett, Derek and Will all one each. Duran picked pockets for three steals, with Urness making two and Ryan one. Rhett and Will each had a blocked shot.

Prior to that game, the red and black played a close one at Pocahontas before falling 68-63 to the Indians. The Cowboys did hold a 35-25 halftime lead following a good second quarter effort.
