Cowboys take win over Webster City, struggle in two other games

Trenton Sann drives the ball in towards the basket versus Webster City. The junior led the team with 18 points, and grabbed four rebounds, to help in the victory. He also led the Cowboys with 14 points on Tuesday at Algona, and led in rebounds with six in the same game.

The Clarion-Goldfield varsity boys basketball team picked up another win last Friday in a 61-53 home defeat of Webster City. The Cowboys led the Lynx 19-14 after a quarter, only to have the score become 32-29 in favor of the Lynx at halftime. The second half would decide it, as the Cowboys outscored the visitors 32 points to 21 over those minutes.

Three players finished in double figures, led by Trenton Sann’s 18 points on 7 of 9 from the field and 4 of 4 from the line. Kenton Waters came off the bench to knock down 17 points, including three buckets from downtown. Chris Staudt scored 15 points which included two baskets from beyond the arc.
