Cowboys steamroll over Green Devils 54-8

The ninth rated (2A) Clarion-Goldfield-Dows/CAL football team gave visiting Osage more than they could handle last Friday night in a 54-8 home win for their third straight victory.

The Cowboys set the tone early with three first-quarter scores. With 9:58 left in the period, a nice drive culminated with Nathan Rapp carrying the mail from a yard out for the first score. The Sergio Martinez extra point attempt was good. With 5:27 on the clock, Jesse Carrillo got the call and made good on a 13-yard touchdown run. The PAT kick was blocked. With 2:27 left in the quarter, Kainan Braun took off on a five-yard scamper to paydirt. The PAT was good, making it 20-0 as the second quarter began.

The red and black would tack on two more touchdowns before halftime. Following the lone Osage score, Braun dropped back and launched a pretty 67-yard pass completion to Chase Harker for the score. Braun then hit Israel Rivera for a two-point conversion. With 1:34 left in the quarter, Braun carried it in from 27-yards out. The PAT was no good, making the score 34-8 at the break.

The Cowboys would own the second half, as the frustrated Green Devils could provide no answer for the high-octane Cowboy offense.
