Cowboys score big win over Iowa Falls-Alden

Monday, June 4, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball team brought their bats to work in totaling 18 hits and averaging a run for each in defeating Iowa Falls-Alden 18-9 on the road.

Four Cowboys swung the biggest lumber, with Reed Abbas going 4 for 5 with a double, three RBI and a run scored. Zach Martin and Will Weidemann were equally up to the task, with Zach going 3 of 4 with four RBI and two runs scored while Will managed a 3 for 5 night with two doubles, five RBI and two runs scored. Not to be outdone, Brier Boyd flexed his muscle for 2 for 4, both doubles, with one RBI and three runs scored. Tyler Stein went 2 for 5 and crossed the dish three times.

Cael Chase hit a double in his only contact, with Tanner Abbas, Jaace Weidemann and Caleb Krueger all reaching on base hits. T. Abbas scored twice, J. Weidemann had two RBI and Krueger brought one run in. Mateo Martinez crossed with three runs, and TrentonJergenson and Carter Dietz one run each. T. Abbas, Martin, J. Weidemann and Jergenson all had a stolen base each. T. Abbas used a good eye at the plate in drawing three walks, with Martin, Bryce Tegtmeyer and J. Weidemann equally adept with two free passes each. Stein and Boyd took one walk each.
