Cowboys post some good efforts at Wartburg Indoor meet

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track & field team opened the indoor portion of their schedule by going to Wartburg College last Tuesday. Several good performances were turned in by long-time coach Craig Warnke’s team.

In field events, Andrew Conlon tied for 20th with a high jump mark of 5’ 2”. Riley State cleared 5’ for a tie at 23rd in the same event. Sam Urness finished 20th out of 41 entries in the long jump, posting a best mark of 18’ 2.5”. He was joined in that event by Cameron Jergenson, who made 15’ 6.5” for 38th place. Kane Mendoza heaved the shot to a 21’ 7” distance for 46th in that event.

In the 55-meter dash prelims, Bryce Hamilton took sixth in his heat with a 7.25 while Zach Leist finished eighth in his heat at 8.41. Neither of them made the finals. The 55-meter hurdles prelims saw Chase Harker in seventh at 9.89 in his heat, while Sergio Arragon took seventh in his heat with 10.89. Neither of them qualified for the finals.
