Cowboys play a tough stretch of games

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys basketball team visited Iowa Falls last Tuesday night and fell 69-35 to the home Cadets. The home team left the court at halftime in firm control with a 38-12 advantage. Jaace Weidemann netted 10 points for the night, wit Christian Gaytan at nine points and Dalton Nesheim at six points. Blake Jackson and Nate Rapp were at four points each, with Mateo Martinez and Nick Turner at one point apiece. Martinez and Rapp finished in a tie for leading rebounds at six boards each.

Gaytan grabbed five, Weidemann four and Jackson three. Nesheim finished with two and Noah Roosa one. Gaytan dished the pumpkin for three assists, with Jackson and Martinez credited with two apiece. Rapp and Weidemann both had one each. Gaytan picked off three steals, with Nesheim and Rapp at one apiece. “We got off to a slow start, and had no hands in the face on defense while allowing three’s,” stated head coach Brandon Lantzky. “We gave them far too much, and it was hard to make a comeback from that. We need to improve defensively. We’ll learn and move on from it.”
