Cowboys lose close 3-2 game to S. Hamilton

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity baseball team entered the bottom of the seventh inning of a home game last Thursday with South Hamilton trailing 3-0, and even though they gave themselves a chance in rallying for two runs it was still not enough in a 3-2 loss to the Hawks.

Tyler Steiner had the only hit of the night, bringing in Jacob O’Connor for one of the runs. Tanner and Reed Abbas had a stolen base each, with Will Weidemann drawing two walks and Zach Leist, Tanner and Steiner all getting one free pass apiece.

Leist took the loss on the mound, allowing just seven hits over five innings with three walks and six K’s. Brendon Boyd came on in relief, shutting them down on runs with one hit and two strikeouts.
