Cowboys hit a rough stretch as season winds down

On Monday, July 1, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball team dropped a 20-8 game at Humboldt. The red & black scored one in the first, two more in each of the next two innings and plated three scores in the fourth. However, that was more than offset by a high-powered Wildcat offensive barrage of five in the first and eight runs in the fourth sandwiched around seven more scores to end this one after four innings.

Tyler Stein and Caleb Krueger both went 2 for 3, with Stein smacking a double and driving in two runs while scoring two. Krueger also crossed twice. Nate Rapp smashed a two-run homer in his only contact, with Reed Abbas doubling in his lone hit and driving in a run. Brier Boyd and Nevan Foss both had a base hit and brought in a run each, with Boyd crossing the dish once as well. Bryce Allen singled and Cael Chase singled and scored once. Mateo Martinez scored a run. Boyd and Martinez both swiped a bag each.
