Cowboys finish third in their class at annual home relays

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track & field team ran their rescheduled Cowboy Relays this past Monday. Only one class was needed for the teams, with Forest City easily taking the title. The final standings were: Forest City 156, Clear Lake 99, C-G-D 82.5, West Hancock 72.5, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 68, Belmond-Klemme 47 and West Fork 29.

While there were no wins, the red and black did earn good points from second place finishes of Zach Pogge (100 and 200) and third place finishes of Bryce Hamilton (100), Nick Haechler (400 hurdles) and Sam Urness (long jump). Taking fourth place was Hamilton again in the 200, along with Cameron Jergenson in the 400 and Alex Rosenbaum doubling up in the 1600 and 3200 at that same spot. Fifth place efforts were turned in by Jacob O’Connor in the 110 hurdles, Zack Leist in the discus and Riley State in the high jump.

Earlier in the week, the team finished sixth at the Umstead Relays in Eagle Grove. Algona won with 119 points, followed closely by Humboldt with 118. The rest finished like this: Clear Lake 70, Forest City 60, Fort Dodge Public 60, C-G-D 46, Webster City 45, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 30 and Hampton-Dumont 10.
