Cowboys find some runs but can’t pull out win

Last Monday at Iowa Falls-Alden, the Cowboys lost a 9-5 contest to the Cadets. It was 7-3 IFA after five complete frames, with the visitors plating single scores in the final two innings.

Nate Rapp swung the big stick in this one, going 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI. Brier Boyd was 2 for 3 with a double, and Tyler Stein 2 for 4 with three runs scored. Reed Abbas doubled in his only connection at the plate, while Nick Turner and Bryce Brinkman provided a base hit each. Cael Chase had an RBI and scored a run, while Carter Dietz scored once as a courtesy runner. Stein showed his quickness in making three steals, with Boyd equally up to the test in grabbing two bags. Chase and Dietz had one steal each. Caleb Krueger and Brinckman both drew a walk apiece.

Boyd took the loss on the hill, allowing two earned runs on two hits over five innings. He issued four walks and racked up seven K’s. Krueger came on in relief, allowing just one earned with two walks and two strikeouts.
