Cowboys drop district opener at Osage 34-0

It was a long night and rough start for the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows/CAL varsity football team in a 34-0 Class 2A, District 2 loss at Osage. Will Weidemann rushed for 47 yards on 15 carries, with Bryce Tegtmeyer gaining 16 yards on one try. Reymundo Vasquez had three yards on two attempts. Jaace Weidemann was nine of 16 thru the air for 56 yards, and had an 85.7 QB rating for the night. “We made mistakes on offense, but played well on defense at times,” stated head coach Newt Lingenfelter. “We’ll work hard this week to clean up those things and prepare to get back on track in the district.”

The red and black travels to Cresco this Friday to take on Crestwood (1-0, 1-2). The Cadets won 35-28 over Hampton-Dumont last Friday.
