Cowboys drop contests to Clear Lake, Humboldt

Staudt scores 11 vs. Lions,

Waters 10 vs. Wildcats

The Clarion-Goldfield boys varsity team had a tough week finding a win, or even much offense, in dropping two games in the conference.

On Tuesday night in Clear Lake, they lost 75-36 to the Lions. Clear Lake was up 37-21 at the break, and used a 16-0 fourth quarter to put it away. “We did a much better job of getting back in transition and limiting their fast break opportunities,” said head coach Scott Herrig. “The first time we played them, the Lions got a lot of good looks when they ran the floor. Otherwise, we just ran up against a superior opponent. They are ranked number one (3A) for a reason.”

Chris Staudt scored 11 points and Kenton Waters 10 points. Trenton Sann added seven.
