The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows/CAL varsity lost a heartbreaking 13-12 decision to Eagle Grove in a home game last Friday. It came despite great offensive efforts from the Weidemann boys, as Jaace passed for 133 yards and Will rushed the ball for 131 more. The Cowboys scoring came on a 13-yard touchdown run by Avery Harrington, and a 31-yard touchdown pass from Jaace to Andy Conlon.

Will averaged 11.9-yards on 11 carries, with Reymundo Vasquez gaining 72 yards on 14 totes of the pigskin. Nate Rapp had 34 yards on four attempts and Avery Harrington 13 yards on two carries and a score. Jaace was 9 of 19 with two TD passes and one interception. He finished with a 102.5 QB rating. Bryce Tegtmeyer caught five passes for 49 yards, Harrington two balls for 53 yards and Conlon one for 31 yards and a score.

“It was a physical game, but probably for the first time since I’ve been a part of this staff that it was also a clean game,” stated head coach Newt Lingenfelter. “These are classy guys one both sides that know each other pretty well. Both teams wanted to establish the run, and both had a defensive strategy to stop the run."
