Cowboys defeat Cadets 84-74

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity boys basketball team continues to fight hard for more wins as district tournament time approaches and seedings fall into place. To that end, they picked up a much needed win this past Monday in an 84-74 home victory over Iowa Falls-Alden.

Rhett Darland exploded for 31 points, including a red hot 14 of 15 from the charity stripe. Avery Harrington canned 20 points, with Sam Urness dropping 17 points thru the rim. Will Weideman scored seven points, Marco Duran four points, Derek Conlon three points and Zach Martin two points. Harrington enjoyed a double-double by pulling down 14 boards. Leist had nine rebounds, Weidemann eight and Darland six. Duran made four rebounds, Conlon three, Maryin and Tegtmeyer two each and Urness one.

The team is now 6-10 overall, and plays a rescheduled game at Eagle Grove this Thursday before hosting Humboldt on Friday. They go to Hampton-Dumont the following Tuesday.
