Cowboy wrestlers are NCC champs again

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling team won their fourth conference tournament in the past five years last Saturday, and this time on their home mat. They amassed 225 points to easily outdistance themselves from Clear Lake at 177 points. The rest finished like this: Hampton-Dumont 174, Humboldt 155.5, Webster City 135, Algona 133, Iowa Falls-Alden 113.5 and St. Edmond 10.

Carter Dietz (170), Sam Wigans (182) and Spencer Trenary (285) all found themselves wearing gold at the end of the day. Dietz used two falls to set up his final, where he took a 4-2 win over Naeve (Humboldt). Wigans used a bye and fall to advance, then took an 11-2 major decision over Osborn (Humboldt) in the finals. Trenary stayed undefeated on the year with a bye and a fall followed by a 3-0 win over Jones (Humboldt).
