Cowboy track & field team sixth at Forest City

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track & field team had a decent opening night of the outdoor season in taking sixth out of nine teams at the Forest City Relays last Thursday at Waldorf College. Clear Lake took the team title with 134.50 points, followed in the final standings by: Webster City 109.50, Forest City 97, Lake Mills 92, Iowa Falls-Alden 91, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 75, North Iowa 70, Central Springs 21 and Belmond-Klemme 9. “It was not a bad night for us, but it did get cold by the end of it,” said head coach Craig Warnke.

Mason Willey was the top individual finisher, taking gold in the 100 meter dash in a clocking of 11.43. “He looked really good in that race,” said Warnke. He was also second in the long jump with a 20’ 6.50” best mark. Also in second place for the meet was Colby Eberhard in the 400 hurdles with a 1:02.67 time. “That was a good job by Colby,” said Warnke.
