Cowboy track & field compete in three meets

Last Tuesday, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track & field team took fourth place at the 12-team Cardinal Relays hosted by Garner-Hayfield/Ventura. The host team took the title with 137 points, followed in the top five by West Fork with 88, Lake Mills with 82, Cowboys with 81 and West Hancock with 77.

Mason Willey kept his hot streak going by taking the 200-dash (23.18), and finished second in the long jump. The 4x1 relay also broke the tape first with a 45.42. Willey was second in the 100-dash as well, while Bret Crees took third in the 110 hurdles and Brett Zieman third in the discus.

“The 4x8 and shuttle had their best times of the year,” said head coach Craig Warnke. “Portillo had a nice run to drop a lot of time in the 800. The 4x1 finished first for a nice effort. This is a tough event in 2A this year.”
