Cowboy track and field finish fifth at two meets

Last Monday, April 17, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track team took fifth place at the Hampton-Dumont Invitational. Denver took the title with 162 points, followed in order by: Aplington-Parkersburg 135, Roland-Story 116, Newman Catholic 72.5, C-G-D 70.5, Hampton-Dumont 68, Belmond-Klemme 40, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 35 and Central Springs 30.

On Tuesday, they competed at Belmond-Klemme and again finished fifth as a team. The Bronco Relays were won by Lake Mills with 149 points, followed by: Bishop Garrigan 125, West Hancock 113, West Fork 82, C-G-D 76, Newman Catholic 64, CAL 58, Belmond-Klemme 53 and North Iowa 17.

“The young kids are running well,” said Coach Craig Warnke. “The freshman are handling the varsity time pretty good. Our shuttle is our best event right now, and we set our best time of the year at this meet. we’re first in the district there, and number three in the sprint medley. Our distance medley is looking to have potential too, and I’m hoping both Chase and Jacob can go in the 400 hurdles.”
