Cowboy track and field compete at Clear Lake, Forrest City

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track & field team hosted their annual Cowgirl Relays last Tuesday, taking second in their class to Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon. The Indians finished with 336 points, followed by the Cowgirls with 275 points. Behind them were: Iowa Falls-Alden with 263, Hampton-Dumont with 214, Forest City with 188 and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura with 168.

Maddie Disney picked up yet another long jump win, with Claire Davis (400) and Kenzie Alberts (800) also taking those events. The 4x4 relay also crossed the finish line in first place.

“We were missing some girls, but they did a great job competing on a chilly, windy night,” said head coach Monty Harker. “There was good competition from Pocahontas, so we were glad to get second. Claire was tired, after a busy week, by the time we ran the 800 so not a good time there for her. Cierra Milner had one of her better times in the 1500 (6:14.07), and both Megan Zwiefel and Ana Johnson posted better times in the 110 hurdles. Ana is getting her time down in the 400 hurdles. Our field events started out well, with Mikayla getting a personal best in the discus and Kennedy a personal best in the long jump. Our shuttle had their fastest time of the year, and all four had good splits. The 4x4 also set their fastest time, with Kenna Kruger having a really good split time.”
