Cowboy golfers host Webster City, go to West Hancock Invite

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys golf team hosted Webster City last Friday at Oakridge, with the Lynx winning the varsity meet 154-170. Counters for the home team were Kenton Waters with 41, Mike Schaffer with 42, Trenton Sann with 43 and Zach Martin with 44. Other cards were turned in by Brendon Boyd (50) and Will Weidemann (57). The Lynx JV also won 183-228. Cowboy JV scores were: Dylan Jackson 55, Jacob O’Connor 55, Brandon Hagie 59, Connor Johnson 59, Alex Harrah 59 and Trey Jackson 61.

“This was at least a team score we were expecting to start the season, so it’s a good time to get things going in the right direction,” said head coach Pat O’Brien. “The Lynx have a really good team, with about seven or eight kids that can really score low. We weren’t there to try to compete with them, we were there to compete with ourselves. Mike and Zach’s scores really helped. I think we turned the corner.”
