Cowboy basketball can’t find a win in three games

Last Monday, January 7, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys basketball team lost a 99-70 home game to Pocahontas Area. The Indians led 53-33 at the break. Four Cowboys finished in double digits, led by Mateo Martinez who poured in 18 points with two treys. Brier Boyd scored 16 points with one three-pointer, Jaace Weidemann 12 points and Christian Gaytan 11 points. Alec Martin scored four points, Clinton Miller and Caleb Krueger three points each, Nate Rapp two points and Noah Roosa one point.

Boyd and Weidemann tied for the lead in rebounds at five each, with Blake Jackson and Gaytan at four each. Martinez grabbed three caroms and Martin, Rapp and Roosa all two each. Dalton Nesheim and Krueger both finished with one rebound on their stat line. Gaytan dished the ball for three assists, with Martin, Jackson and Martinez all at two assists each. Boyd, Miller and Krueger all made one apiece. Martinez was tenacious on defense in swiping five steals, with Gaytan getting two and Martin and Boyd one each.
