Cowboy baseball season stats, all-conference selections

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows head baseball coach Nick Willwerth has now released his team’s final overall stats along with the All-NCC teams. Jacob O’Connor made the 2nd Team as a pitcher, while Will Weidemann was honored on the 3rd Team as a catcher.

The team finished 4-19-1 overall, with a 1-12-1 conference mark. Webster City won the conference at 12-2, followed by Algona and Clear Lake with identical 10-4 records. As a team, the 2017 Cowboys had 555 total at-bats to produce 78 runs on 121 total hits. There were 26 doubles, two triples and three homeruns. A total of 67 RBI were produced. There were no sac fly’s, 95 walks taken and 28 stolen bases in 34 attempts. The team had a .218 collective batting average, with a .288 collective slugging percentage.

Will Weidemann had 21 hits in 61 at-bats for a .344 average (He also finished 19th with .343 average in league games only). Jacob O’Connor had 17 hits in 67 at-bats for a .254 average. Zack Leist had 17 hits in 65 at-bats for a .262 average. Brendon Boyd had 16 hits in 64 at-bats for a .250 average. Bryce Tegtmeyer had 13 hits in 67 at-bats for a .194 average.

The following players received the GRIT award for achieving greater than 65 percent attendance in off-season workouts: Bryce Tegtmeyer, Brier Boyd and Bryce Brinkman.
