Cowboy baseball scoring runs, but can’t find any wins

In the first game of a home doubleheader last Monday at Hampton, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity baseball team came up on the short end of a 9-5 score to Hampton-Dumont. The Bulldogs were the home team in a make-up game from June 8th. They went up 3-1 until the top of the third when the Cowboys scored twice to knot the score. Hampton scored three in the forth, with the Cowboys getting a run back in the fifth in this back and forth game. The Bulldogs put up two more in the sixth to finally have enough margin for victory.

Brendon Boyd was 2 of 4 including a double and a homerun smash. He had one RBI and scored twice. Jarrod Littlejohn was 2 of 4 with two RBI, while Bryce Tegtmeyer doubled for his only connection in two trips to the plate and drove in a run. Zach Martin, Leist and Rosenbaum all crossed the dish once, with Tegtmeyer and Tyler Stein each drawing a free pass to first.

Leist took the loss, allowing seven earned runs in 5 1/3 innings with four walks and six K’s. Martin pitched 2/3 inning, allowing no earned with one strikeout.
