County librarians report to supervisors

Wright County’s Library Association gave an annual update on their programs and requested funds from the board of Supervisors at their regular meeting on Monday. Kevin Hadley of the Rowan library board presented the request for $2,500 for matching funds for a total $5,000 technology grant, which would be divided between the county’s libraries.

“The computers and technology are really changing a lot of our needs,” Hadley said. He commented that the libraries in general were becoming more technology-oriented.

The counties’ librarians also attended the meeting and answered the supervisors’ questions about trends in library services. Chris Adcock, librarian in Belmond, said she had observed more adults using the library computers and an increase in faxing and copying services, but books weren’t obsolete. “We still check out lots of books, fiction books, children’s books,” she said.
