Class of 1947 holds 70th reunion

On May 22, 1947, 72 students graduated from Clarion High School. In the years since then, members of the class moved away, took on careers, and raised families. On Saturday, five members of the class were able to gather in Clarion once more to celebrate their 70th reunion.

The small group—Phyllis (Lewis) Hahn, Dorothy (Moellering) Russell, Gene Henely, Art Bohy, and Virgil Rink, in addition to two of the group’s spouses—met at Pizza Ranch to share a meal and memories.

All of the group who were able to come were Iowa residents. However, though members of the class have scattered to Washington, Arizona, California, Texas, and Arkansas, they still make visits to the home state occasionally.

“A bunch of us get together up at Cedar Falls,” said Dorothy Russell, who lives in Mechanicsville, IA.
