Chainsaw artist creates buzz at Wright County Fair

To anyone else, the pieces of wood laying on the ground near Lynn Anderson’s exhibit Thursday night appeared to be simply that, wood.

But Lynn Anderson, a chainsaw artist from Fort Dodge who started L.A.'s Wildwood Creations, sees much more.

He sees a beautiful piece of finished artwork, whether it be a barrell of apples or a mini version of Herky the Hawk or Cy the Cyclone.

He spent time at the Wright County Fair this past week demonstrating his talent of making these pieces of art using a variety of mostly gas-powered chainsaws.

“When I have a pocket full of sawdust, I have a smile on my face,” Anderson remaked about his unique hobby.

All his art pieces were auctioned off Sunday evening. The proceeds went back to the Fair.

Read more Lynn’s art an the Wright County Fair in the July 17 issue, including tales from the Barnyard Olympics, Belmond’s Ellingston’s on their rag rugs, two full photo pages – and there’s even more to come next week!
