Caroline Eleanor Hiemstra

Caroline Eleanor Hiemstra, age 97 of Belmond, IA went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior June, 16, 2021. Caroline was born in Marshalltown, IA on April 30, 1924 to Ewald and Lilly Lorenzen. She graduated from Marshalltown High School and attended Marshalltown Junior College and Iowa State University where she majored in Home Economics.

Caroline was accomplished in many activities that she pursued. She was a gifted pianist and organist and shared her talent at the various churches she attended and at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene, where she was a member. While she lived in Clarion she and Herman began a weekly ministry at the Nursing Home sharing God's love to the residents. She was a great cook and remembered the favorite desert of many members of her family. She sewed beautifully, making her own clothes and helping her step-daughters with their weddings when the time came. She had a way with plants and was very proud of the passion flower plant that bloomed each year. Her gardens produced flowers and vegetables, and she loved the song of birds, often identifying which bird species was singing. Her faith was the defining part of who she was, and even in her declining years she recognized God as her guide.

She was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and a friend to all. Preceded in death by husbands’ Myrland Fausch, Clayton Smith and Herman Hiemstra; parents Ewald and Lillie Lorenzen; Brother Dale Lorenzen, Sister Garnet Boisvert, step son David Hiemstra and grandson Mark Fausch.

Survived by Corrine (Ron) De Young, Judy (Dan) Vander Ark, John (Sandra) Fausch, Ron Smith, Marilyn (Bill) Eckels, Charles (Karen) Fausch, Kenneth Smith, (Linda Hiemstra), Sheryl Graddick, Karen (Steve) Marvets, Paula Harms, Allen (Sharon) Fausch, Nancy (Steve) Van Der Laan, Dale (Colleen) Hiemstra, and most precious Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
