Cardinals defeat Cowboys 52-6

Garner-Hayfield/Ventura used over 500 yards of total offense to steamroll over the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows/CAL Cowboys 52-6 last Friday night at Garner. The win keeps G-H/V solidly in the district title picture, while it prevented the visitors from getting back into the win column.

“It was a difficult night for us on both sides of the ball,” said head coach Paul Hansch. “Offensively, we are down to our third-string JV running back and there is no solution to that problem. The defense is faced with a similar problem at the linebacker position. Against a team as physical as the Cardinals, that creates a lot of trouble moving the ball or stopping their running game.”

The Cardinals took a 20-0 lead by halftime, courtesy of three touchdown runs (the longest for 60 yards) and an interception of a Kainan Braun pass. They kept things rolling in the third quarter, putting up three more scores for a 40-0 advantage with 7:55 remaining in the period.
