C-G-D takes fourth in their class at Cowboy Relays

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track team hosted their Cowboy Relays last Friday, finishing fourth in class A which was won by Iowa Falls-Alden. The Cadets compiled 178 points, and were followed by: Forest City 160, Clear Lake 115, CGD 76, Hampton-Dumont 29 and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 24. West Hancock was the class B team champion.

Highlights included a gold medal win for the shuttle hurdle relay foursome. Toured the track in a nice 1:03.91. Harker then grabbed a couple of nice finishes on his own, coming home second in 16.07 in the 110 hurdles and taking third in 1:00.77 in the 400 lows in his first time in the event. The 4x8 and 4x1 relay events both finished third. Posted a 9:32.56 in the 4x8, while put a 47.66 clocking on the board in the 4x1.

“We leaned on our young kids more in this meet, and some rose to the occasion while some didn’t,” stated head coach Craig Warnke. “I saw some good things. We could have a lot of possibilities, but finding the right combination takes a lot.”
