Burres-Youngs to speak at Heartland Museum

Eagle Grove native and nationally known inspirational writer/speaker Bettie Burres-Youngs will be speaking at the Heartland Museum at 2 p.m. on June 25.

Bettie Burres-Youngs is the author of some 25+ books translated in more than 28 languages. A 1966 graduate of Eagle Grove High School, Bettie attended Iowa Central Community College and graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, and she began her teaching career in the Des Moines Public Schools. She would go on to become the 1976 IOWA Teacher-of-the-Year—the youngest to receive the state’s prestigious honor.

Bettie holds a Ph.D. and an Ed.D., and was recruited by San Diego State University as a Professor in Educational Administration, Management and Supervision, becoming the first woman to hold that post. Later she would start an international Consulting firm and work in business and education both in the US and abroad and be called upon to set up family and school programs for military bases in a number of countries.
