Area businesses preparing for Valentine's Day

Flower orders for Valentine's Day already began trickling in the last few weeks of January.

And area businesses continue to prepare by not only taking orders but also putting together pre-made merchandise such as gift baskets with yummy chocolate and tasty wine, for example, and filling the shelves with a variety of holiday merchandise.

They know they must be ready because people do not usually celebrate it for more than a couple days like Mother’s Day or Christmas.

“This is usually one or two days where stores like ours are really busy,” said Linda Dow, owner of Down to Earth, a flower shop in Dows.
